Top school, Scarborough College, confirmed its academic reputation as 89% of students gained 5 grades A* to C with 44% of the grades at A* or A.   This set of results echoes the excellent IB results which the College celebrated in July.

The College curriculum is academic and all students follow the IGCSE Maths course along with three separate sciences and a modern language.  Therefore, the College were celebrating the fact that 97% of its students passed maths and three sciences.  In keeping with its international ethos, 91% passed at least one modern foreign language.  Artistic flair was also very much in evidence with 100% of the GCSE Art grades at A* or A.

Head of Scarborough College, Mrs Nixon said,

The College is very proud of its broad ability range and these results demonstrate what can be achieved in academic subjects through high expectations and good teaching.  Our students perform well above the national average but it should also be remembered that these results are only one part of a broad programme of activities including music, sport, drama and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

We are also pleased to see that our boys have performed well, bucking the national trend.  This year, several of the best performing students were boys including Alan Lewis who gained an impressive clean sweep with 10 grades at A*.”  Alan is also a talented dancer and musician.  Other students who did particularly well were Matthew Bennion, Sophie Wynands , Kathryn Outhart and Christopher North who all achieved 10 grades at A* or A.

Congratulations to all our pupils and staff who have put in a huge amount of time and effort to ensure another set of great results.  We look forward to welcoming the majority of our students back on 2 September as they start the IB Diploma in the College’s Sixth Form and prepare for the next stage of their education as young adults.
